The Parish of Sutton is located in the beautiful hills of the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The Parish consists of two small churches: Grace Church in Sutton, and All Saints Church in Abercorn. The Church of the Good Shepherd in Glen Sutton, formerly part of the parish, was sold in May of 1999.
Grace Church was built in 1846 and has continued to serve the small community of Sutton since that time. Our history describes the building of the church and the many clergy who have served alongside of the lay people down through the years. Some of our yearly activities include parish suppers, a children's summer day camp, rummage sales and a bazaar, and hospitality to visitors. Many of our people are actively involved in the local community in many volunteer capacities.
Each year Grace Church participates in numerous ecumenical events with our friends from the Roman Catholic, Baptist and United Churches of Sutton. Advent Breakfast, Lenten Lunches, Good Friday Walk, Pentecost Celebrations, Summer Trips to Holy Places, are all part of our ecumenical activities together.
Services at Grace Church are at 10:30 am every Sunday morning, using the Holy Eucharist from the Book of Alternative Services. Our hymns come from the new hymnbook "Common Praise". Singles, families with children, visitors from out of town; all are welcome here; come as you are! Click here for pictures of the church.
Grace Church is located in Sutton on Route #139, which can be accessed from the Eastern Townships Autoroute (Hwy #10) at exit 68 or 74. From Montreal, it is about a 1 1/2 hour drive. Whether you are here downhill skiing at Mount Sutton in the winter, relaxing at a cottage in the summer, or taking in the beautiful autumn colours, you are always welcome at Grace Church.
All Saints Church in Abercorn is open from
Easter to Thanksgiving with a Sunday Service at 9:15 am on the
second and fourth Sundays of each month. We alternate with
Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer, and the BAS
Eucharist.

To get to All Saints Church continue driving south from Sutton on route#139 until you get to the town of Abercorn. It is a ten minute drive from Sutton.
Church of the Good Shepherd, Glen Sutton
Built in 1877 the Church of the Good Shepherd served the community of Glen Sutton faithfully for many years. The town has changed over those many years and the church which used to be the focus of many families in the town gradually became a church where only a few people regularly attended. In January of 1999 the few remaining parishioners voted to close the church. Our closing service of Thanksgiving was held on Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd, 1999. Over 70 people gathered for one last time to give thanks for the community which has worshipped and witnessed in the villlage over these many years. Those who live in Glen Sutton and still desire to worship in an Anglican Church have already moved their membership over to Grace Church in Sutton, which is part of the parish. The new owner, an accomplished musician, hopes to use the church for a studio and locale for musical concerts.
The beautifully hand-crafted wooden interior of the church has impressed and inspired many a visitor. Click here for a history of the church. For pictures of the church, please click here.
To reach the church go south out of Sutton and follow the road signs for Glen Sutton (about a 15 minute drive). The Good Shepherd Church is located in the town of Glen Sutton.
